Kit Muirhead is a policy officer at Australian Women Against Violence Alliance (AWAVA). In this role, Kit supports various policy and advocacy initiatives aimed at addressing and preventing violence against all women and girls in Australia. This includes supporting AWAVA’s responsibilities as a Secretariat member of the National Advocacy Group on Women on Temporary Visas Experiencing Violence. Previously, Kit has worked on projects to increase women’s economic empowerment and combat homelessness in both Melbourne and Perth. Prior to the pandemic, she was also living in Fiji, where she was set to work alongside women’s rights organisations to develop local responses to gendered violence.
